Ecosystemic Psychology

This module offers a different approach to the medical model therapeutic method and adds a different dimension to your overall development as a psychologist. Michelle’s counselling practice utilises this approach, so she is able to bring real case studies into the tutorial sessions, in order to provide discussion and application to the theory, thereby making the module exciting and relevant.

During the tutorials students approach this module in the following manner...

​

1)​  The tutor gives an overall understanding of the various approaches, including the Ecosystemic

      approach.

 

2)  Provide assistance with all 3 of the written assignments, which are crucial for exam preparation.  

      This includes helping to formulate the definition of first and second order concepts, drawing up a

      genogram and ecomap, and understanding first and second order approaches in terms of health and

      pathology, Research, ethics, the role of the therapist etc.

 

3)  We examine the theory for each topic, which includes providing summaries and discussion of the

      journal articles.

4)  The tutor teaches the students how to counsel in the Ecosystemic approach, in order to make the

     module more relevant.

​

5)  Extensive exam prep, which provides model answers to exam questions.
